I was reviewing what I'd written yesterday and realized, once again, I'd spent two pages telling instead of showing.

This is one of those basic fiction writing rules that doesn't change--99% of the time, showing your story is better than telling your story. So I went back and I re-wrote it, and it is, of course, substantially better.

But dang, this writing stuff's hard work! Why didn't anyone warn me about that?

I thought it was the other way around? Gah! Back to the beginning... (g)
You are, of course, correct. I can offer two explanations 1. It was April Fool's Day and my subconscious turned it into a joke.

2. I'm a moron who wasn't paying attention.

You pick.

I've since gone back and switched it around, slapping myself upside the head and saying "Show! Don't Tell!"

LOL - I'd go with number one! (bg) Glad to see I'm not losing my mind (today)!

It's comforting to know that I'm not the only person who edits my work and says, "What was I thinking?"
There are definitely days when I not only feel like we're all bozos on this bus, but that I'm the one driving over the cliff.
